Spotlight on Bruce Edwards

October 13, 2023

Enjoy our brief interview with Bruce as we work toward our production of Arsenic and Old Lace. Bruce plays Dr. Einstein in Arsenic, which opens October 27!Bruce in costume for another production.

Other productions of Arsenic and Old Lace

I did Arsenic and Old Lace in grade 10, playing Brophy. I just remember wishing I could play Jonathan. I didn’t know that I had pretty much topped out in height at 5’6″! I directed it twice more as a teacher at my school about 25 years apart.

Last Production at Dundas Little Theatre

I think it was Lady Windemere’s Fan here at DLT. Favourite role had to be sinking my teeth into Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman at VT Waterdown. The range and intensity of emotion was otherworldly and the exploration of family dynamics and the power of myth fascinating.

Best Production

Perhaps biased because I was in it but for me it had to be Theatre Burlington’s production years ago of Amadeus. We had a precocious director with huge ambition, a fantastic set because we managed to secure the talents of Theatre Aquarius designer Jonathan Porter, sound by the inimitable Ron Hebbard and a terrific cast headed by Willard Boudreau.
